On January 18, 2013, this year's Wood Day of BEO HOLZ, the Bernese Oberland Working Group for Wood, will be held at the Lötschberg Center in Spiez from 1:30-5:00 p.m. on the topic of "Swiss Wood and Top Sports."
Timber construction is currently celebrating great success in Switzerland. But where does the material come from? Are the local forests and timber industry able to supply the right products at marketable prices? Or does everything come from abroad and the forest owners are left out in the cold?
At the Holztag in Spiez, these topics will be examined in more detail. From the timber construction engineer Stefan Zöllig (Timbatec GmbH), who draws up the tender and thus the basis for the contract for work, to timber marketing and the institutional builder, represented by the cantonal architect Drazenka Dragila-Salis, there will be speeches. As a counterpoint, the successful beach volleyball player Nadine Zumkehr will be on hand to answer questions. And ETH professor and owner of the Verenum office Thomas Nussbaumer will talk about the sensible use of wood as an energy source for heat and electricity.
