The project
The new bridge over the Höllbach in the Plasselbschlund was inaugurated on Saturday, July 5, 2014. It weighs 28 tons, is almost 6 meters high, was built from 45 cubic meters of wood and is covered with about 37,000 shingles.
The construction
State Councillor, Mrs. Marie Garnier, as well as other speakers underlined at the inauguration the importance of the fascinating structure: it is a symbol of the reforestation 125 years ago and a central element for today's management of the protection forest. The bridge connects the districts of Sense and Gruyères and received a certificate for the use of Swiss wood.
The new truss structure with shingle roof replaces the old Höllbach bridge, which was destroyed by arson in 2013.
