The project
The new building at Köllikerstrasse 29 in Gretzenbach consists of four full storeys and a basement. The first floor will contain retail space and a common room, with apartments above. The entire building above ground level will be built as a timber frame construction, with the exception of the interior walls on the first floor and the bracing staircase.
The construction method
The cantilevered balconies are a special feature of this building. We developed a suspended construction to eliminate the need for disruptive supports. Steel cables absorb the forces of the balconies and transfer the forces to the supporting structure of the outer walls via a bracket. You can twist and turn this ingenious detail however you like.
