School facility, Romont

Following the political decision of the Romont Municipal Council to abandon the Zelda school construction project at the La Condémine site, considerations and a feasibility study were made on the En Bouley site. This area is already home to the Glane Orientation School (CO), the Bicubic with a modular multi-purpose space including an event hall and a triple sports hall, the Epicentre with, among other things, an aquatic complex, a fitness center, the conservatory premises and a restaurant, and the new building of the Handicap Glâne Foundation, which includes a special education center and a residential home. Parcel 397, with an area of 27,000 m2, is owned by the municipality and allows to meet the needs without affecting the future buildings in the zone.

The Silva project proposes a load-bearing structure made of wood (spruce), resting either on the floor slab or on the first floor. The upper floors do not require concrete elements, the bracing (elevator shafts, solid facade elements) are designed as a wooden structure and are sufficient for the volume of the four buildings.
